Home-Office: Budget Friendly Ideas You’ll Love

In an interview with the Journal of the American Medical Association, Robert Redfield, the director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said, “The fall and the winter are going to be probably one of the most difficult times that we’ve experienced in American public health”. In a congressional hearing, Redfield stated that a vaccine was unlikely to be widely available until summer of next year, if not later. Mike Ryan, executive director of the WHO’s emergencies program said, “… (Coronavirus) is not going away… and especially for those countries entering their winter season in terms of people coming together more indoors.”

If you hear the experts, you will know the virus is here to stay, which means social distancing and wearing masks is going to be around for a while. What else is going to be around for a while now – working from home. The CEO of Mondelez International, the company that owns brands like Cadbury, Oreo, Halls, Tang, Toblerone and several internationally successful snack brands, said, “we can work in different ways,” and as a result, the company does not need all its global offices”. Barclays CEO Jes Staley stated that crowded corporate offices with thousands of employees “may be a thing of the past.” Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, said as many as fifty percent of the employees could be working remotely within the next five to ten years. The bottom-line – you will need to get used to working from home because the virus is going to be around for a while. And for some of us it could be new normal even after the pandemic is over.

So, if you haven’t done it already, here are a few ideas to help you set up your home office. We looked around the internet and found some really clever ways of creating your workstation at home with the least possible expenses.

A desk that neatly blends in

A console table or an end table that blends in with your furniture is a great idea. You can set up your home office in your living room too, especially if the other rooms are occupied by other members of your family for their work-from-home/online classes.
