Do you have your
family over for Thanksgiving? While the elders get busy with preparations for
the big dinner, or catching up, here’s a fun idea for kids. You can ask kids to
help out with the wreath and decorations for Thanksgiving dinner. They’ll
happily be engaged in something constructive while you share some of your
responsibility.
DIY Wreaths
To get children
started with wreaths, analyze their age v/s tools they can be given or tools
they can handle safely. If the kids are too small, like they are mostly
toddlers, you should look at giving them paper-plate wreaths to be make. Paper
plate wreaths are pretty simple. All you need to do is cut the rim of the paper
plate, give kids things they can stick on it. Again, depending on their age,
you could either give them the cut-outs to be done, or if they are old enough
to handle scissors, you could let them use their creativity.
Here are some
ideas with the Styrofoam rings. You can easily get Styrofoam rings from a craft
store or a toy store.
Another fun way
of making a wreath is using a wire clamp style wreath form as a base and adding
more dimensions to the wreath.
And then there’s
the classic – willow wreath. Making the willow wreath can be a little tricky,
but it looks gorgeous. Add flowers and ribbons or laces to make it look richer.
Even a simple willow wreath looks lovely.
Other than
wreaths, Thanksgiving décor can be a lot fun too. Here are some ideas:
